In today’s world of affordable solar energy prices, businesses don’t have to choose between profit and the environment; affordable solar energy increases profit and helps the environment. Additionally, public opinion looks favorably on any measures a company can take to reduce their carbon footprint.

Switching to clean solar energy saves a company money, builds customer confidence, and reduces carbon emissions. With so many benefits to consider, an increasing number of companies are taking environmental action pledges.

One such company is SGS, a global leader in inspection, testing, verification and certification. The Corporate Social Responsibility department of SGS has set sustainability ambitions to be met by the year 2020. These targets include reducing, compared with the 2014 baseline, their annual CO2 emissions (per FTE) by 20% and reducing their annual CO2 emissions (by revenue) by 20%.

To further this goal, the Ghana subsidiary of SGS is partnering with REDAVIA to reduce its carbon footprint. REDAVIA will deploy a solar farm at SGS’s inspection and testing facilities in Tema, Ghana’s main harbor, cutting both carbon emissions and electricity costs for the multinational company.

At REDAVIA, we have always aimed to marry carbon savings with cost savings for our customers, and I am excited to work with SGS, a global technical leader that recognizes the mutual benefits of our partnership.
