The holidays are a time to come together and reflect, so here’s one of my reflections.

As we did last year, REDAVIA, a fast-growing, global solar energy company serving businesses and rural communities in Africa, will provide our rural household customers in Tanzania free power over the holidays.

This is simply a human-to-human gesture, especially for our customers, many of whom struggle to make ends meet, and have lived without access to electricity most of their lives.

But this gesture also exemplifies how REDAVIA aims to use the power of the globalized economy for human benefit. To provide electricity to rural Tanzania, REDAVIA brings together a global supply chain, globally sourced funding, a team from 16 different countries, and local Tanzanian know-how. In doing so, REDAVIA offers rural communities a reliable, clean and cost-effective power service that they never had before.

Still, the global economic system requires REDAVIA to be profitable, which is why we have to charge for power during the rest of the year.

So giving away our electricity during the end-of-year holidays is just a tiny gesture. But that tiny gesture exemplifies REDAVIA’s mission to use the global economy to the benefit of all of us, which is something we are hugely proud of.

In that spirit, to you and REDAVIA’s customers around the world: Happy Holidays and a prosperous New Year!
